• Goodbye Dark Armpits…

Many people suffer from dark spots on the skin in the underarm area. A dark underarm stain can also ruin one’s self esteem and not enjoy sports. These spots can be caused by biological factors like naturally dark hair follicles and fungal infections, as well as certain activities such as shaving or use hair removing creams,  or using deodorants with alcohol, then you will find your skin darkening over a period of time. The main reason for this is that hair removal creams generally contain chemicals that damage your skin, thus causing it to darken as a result. Shaving also tends to make the skin tougher and darker. Another reason why skin darkens in this area is that it is constantly covered with clothing and hair and is therefore almost always sweating. Perspiration contains uric acid, which darkens skin over time. This is perhaps the reason a lot of people also have dark inner thighs, as urine is probably the richest source of natural uric acid.

There are a number of ways you can do to remove dark spots from your underarms depending on your specific needs. While they may not really work towards lightening the color of your skin, they will at least reduce the darkness considerably. Keep in mind that you should be patient and wait for it to work.

    • Switch to an antiperspirant instead of a deodorant to avoid toxic chemicals that could be causing your skin discoloration.
    • You should also avoid applying perfume directly to your skin, as this can also lead to skin darkening.
    • Wax or pluck your underarm hair instead of shaving. This removes hair from the follicle’s root and will prevent visible dark hairs just below the surface, or use a shaving cream or gel every time you shave. Shaving without this can irritate the skin and cause it to scar over time.
    • Try rubbing a piece of lemon under your armpits. Lemon is known for being a natural skin lightener. Rub a piece of lemon on your armpits everyday until you see a change in pigment.
    • Dead skin cells can clog pores and make them look enlarged and dark. Exfoliate your underarm twice a week. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells that may be the cause for dark spots under your arm.
    • Always wash your new clothes before you wear them. Dark clothing can shed or cause dark discoloration under the arms.
    • Lose weight, as being overweight is the other significant factor besides insulin resistance that causes darkened skin on the underarms, thighs and elsewhere.

If you include these in your daily habits, you will notice a marked difference in the color, quality and texture of your skin.
