Our demands from life are too high and when we fail to meet our own expectations, we start developing grudges and complaints about everything around us and stop enjoying life. You have to look within yourself to identify the source of happiness, because the very feeling of happiness lies somewhere in you.
Most of the time, people are unhappy because they keep focusing on negative things. When you make the mistake of thinking that happiness comes from external things, instead of trying to find happiness as if it is something outside of you, you need to search for it within. Nobody comes along and puts happiness inside you.
Different people have different opinions about happiness. Some people feel that reading good self-help books can make them feel happy. Others feel that amassing a lot of wealth can make them happy. Unfortunately, the fact remains that there are many wealthy people who are not happy with their lives.
There are so many simple things out there that can make us feel very happy, but we tend to ignore them and choose to sulk in our self-pity. When you are sad and feeling blue, make an effort to bring happiness to life.
♥ Let go of worrying. It often makes things worse. The more you think about something bad, the more likely it is to happen. If you want to be happy, stop telling yourself you are miserable.
♥ Explore your Spiritual Side. Nothing can give you better emotional support than spirituality. It can prepare you to deal with the challenges of life in a better manner. When you get spiritual growth, you can understand the effect of spiritual healing. You can learn how to focus your attention on things other than you and your life.
♥ Give up on feeling guilty. Guilt changes nothing. It may make you feel you are accepting responsibility, but it can’t produce anything new in your life. If you feel guilty about something you have done, either do something to put it right or accept you screwed up and try not to do so again. Then let it go.
♥ Forgive yourself. Forgive yourself for thinking negatively. Forgive yourself for talking, without thinking twice. Forgive yourself for being rude to your superior, your friend, your parents, or your siblings. Don’t think negative thoughts about yourself for taking wrong steps or making wrong decisions.
♥ Forgive others. If we want to make peace with others, we first need to be at peace with ourselves. Learn to forgive and forget and let go of things quickly. It is not good to resent and hold grudges. The easiest way to forgive others is to assume that they didn’t offend us in the first place.
♥ Don’t be concerned that your life and career aren’t working out the way you planned. The closer you stick to any plan, the quicker you will go wrong. The world changes constantly. However carefully you analyzed the situation when you made the plan, if it’s more than a few days old, things will already be different. After a month, they will be very different. After a year, virtually nothing will be the same as it was when you started. Planning is only useful as a discipline to force people to think carefully about what they know and what they don’t. Once you start, throw the plan away and keep your eyes on reality.
♥ Help others. Being helpful to others will give you a lot of positive feelings and confidence. You will start appreciating your life. You will realize how fortunate and blessed you are. It will strengthen the bonding that you share with other people. It is also said that when you give joy to others, the same joy will come back to you.
♥ Be busy. The busier you are, the less time you have to think, especially, about something or someone who left you with negative feelings. Being busy is the best way to keep negative thoughts from provoking you repeatedly.
♥ Be content with yourself. Don’t focus on things about yourself that you have no control over. Don’t strive to be like someone else. Don’t care about what other people think or say about you, when you are not even sure whether they are right or wrong. When you do this, you relieve yourself of a lot of stress and anxiety.
♥ There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. Hope is something you can never afford to lose. With hope you always have a path towards happiness. Hope reminds you that everything will be ok. With hope, you know that whatever looks terrible is only temporary and that soon enough, things will be just fine.
♥ Count your blessings. When you stop your negative thinking and start counting your blessings only then would you realise how happy you are to be able to have such blessings and what more is more than a happy life of blessings.
♥ Act happy. Put a smile on your face right now, and keep smiling. If you are smiling, other people will perceive you as being friendlier and more approachable.
